Final Piece

Where I began and where I ended up… with this piece… was a ‘mad’ journey…
I started off thinking…. tell a personal story… gangs, youths, etc.. to cut a long story short I feel I ended up going deeper… After looking at personal issues within myself and my experiences and talking to the youth, and people caught up within the whole ‘postcode’ issues…
It ‘led’ me away from the ‘obvious’ but still important elements but made me focus on the ‘People’… in my eyes it’s the people that make the places what they are.. I don’t personally have emotional attachments to physical places… I have attachments to the memories shared within the places…. and usually that’s with a group of people.. which either make that memory.. good or bad…
Sometimes whether it be conscious or subconsciously we impact on other peoples life and sense of place …. eg. think of your school bully or your local neighbourhood ‘badman’ think of your favourite teacher at school, think of the girl or boy that spent that extra minute to come and say hello at college etc. Again to cut along story short… place is deeper than just the ‘physical’ or what the eye can see…..
I suppose we are all trying to find our place… whether economic, personal, mentally, spiritually, etc…. The main thing we strive for is a SAFE PLACE. And in some way that’s what I tried to get across in my piece.
Thanks again to all my Apples n Snakes crew and all that helped 1luv Rukus
