So sorry!!!Diary end of May/June
Sunday, June 7th, 2009Hello My Place or Yours family…… been a loooooong time!!… to be honest don’t know where to start… been a crazy month.. of work… and running around… will fill you all in. I’m just checking in to say I’m okay.. still here lol performed some of my Work in progress @ The Albany two weeks ago… I have footage Will be editing and putting up this week… was well received and gave me confidence… (in the direction of my piece) also putting up some more work in progress this week…..
I had a bit of writers block recently… But I put it down to personal pressure on myself… when this happen… I take a step back….. and just CHILL!! my thing is don’t force anything… allow it to flow… WHAT DO YOU DO TO AID IN UNBLOCKAGE?
I am almost there with my piece….. so the pressure has increased… has been a VERY interesting journey for me creatively and personally.
Been away doing a hair show… but writing stuff on my Blackberry..lol oh yeah if you have a pin add me (250D582D) yeah I cut and style hair in my spare time…… lol I’m gesticulating I model quite regularly in hair shows… because of my hair.. which is quite interesting cause it’s taken me years to grow (over 20) and now like children they are earning their own keep….ummmmm! anyways the hair world is a whole different world believe me…. also add me on Twitter (rukadiah) which I regularly update…. wouldn’t it be good if we MPOY incorporated a twitter like thing for blogging……. ummmmm!!
I have also been working for LMHR (love music Hate racism) doing workshops in youth clubs particularly in areas where racism is an issue and engaging them. I came up with the idea helping them write a track about their personal thoughts on racism, we ended up with a brilliant track involving over 30 young people all from different backgrounds, some of the stuff written was ‘heavy’ considering some had not wrote before.
It made me look at place as well… because we would go to one area and the youth club had predominantly White users or predominantly Asian users… which was reflected within the surrounding areas as well.. this within the same city….. I myself felt i was going into (sometimes invading) someone else’s territory whilst doing this work… which was strange for me as I have never really felt that way.. doing this type of work…But it made start to ask questions like;
Why are certain areas predominantly a certain culture? Is this planned? does local authorities do this for a reason? If we have the choice do we base where we live on the people that live there? So is territorial ism fueled in a way?… etc
Anyway gotta go… but I will posting very regularly this week… so please don’t get sick of me and also I will be reading my MPOY family posts and commenting…. hold tight yazeemi 1 gone

So if any of us are having bad hair days at the Big Chill, you’re the man to sort us out?! Hair stuff sounds a total change from the music/poetry scene and if your lox are paying for themselves, now you make us all want to grow some…. although with my short hair I can wash and go in minutes, but in winter it’ll take you a while longer to be able to leave the house without freezing your head off:) Hope all is well with the words, and the youth projects.
