Shunt Poets

The week long residencies at Shunt involve playing with the audience who come to the Shunt Lounge. There will be two sets of residencies, one during the week commencing 5th October and during the week commencing 12th October. There will be an afternoon workshop on each Monday for the artists where we will explore the title/idea ‘When no one is listening’ and write some short poems. There will 3 nights of performances, from Wednesday (7th and 14th October), Thursday (8th and 15th October) Friday (8th and 16th October).

These will take place in the main bar at the Shunt Lounge on 3 high stages with a focused light and mic. The poems will be approx 2 mins, so there will performances which, like a baton, will follow each other. This may be repeated.

The idea is to explore the place and situation we are in with poetry. We are in the Shunt bar, people will be talking to each other, having conversations, buying drinks and we will playing with interrupting them with our performances and what we are saying.˛
