HELLO AND THANKS
Saturday, April 18th, 2009Hello it’s been a while….!! The last couple of month has been a very hard and sureal period in my life, I am now getting back focused and ‘catching up’…. I would like to say a BIG THANKYOU to all of my APPLES N SNAKES & MPOY family.
“It’s been along time.. shouldn’t have left you……”
Friday, January 30th, 2009Hello how doing my homies/crew/peoples? been alongtime…… well a few weeks lol….. need to catch up on whats been going on in all the different places… respect to all those that have left comments I will get back to each and everyone… I promise… been on a another residency. This time not Youth orientated.. (felt it was important to gain different perspective) I spent time with a Middle age woman who was born in India and moved to England and discussed her views on home and sense of place.. It was very, very interesting and alot of what was discussed was ‘parrallel’ and almost identical to my thoughts on leaving Birmingham and now living in Derby…. I did record it ( why ask..lol) and will be editing it and putting up nex week. I have also ‘kinda’ finalised where I am going with my piece…. Postcode Purgatory (working title).

RUKADIARY MPOY SPECIAL PART 2 (Residencies 1 of 2)
Connecting with my Mentor
Thursday, December 4th, 2008“Yeaah!!! boooyy”… (in a Flava Flav style..lol) Just a short one really.. I have now been assigned a mentor well.. actually it was a few weeks ago….lol and I am paired with Angie Bual, the producer from the Lyric Theatre in Hammersmith …. and I am really happy with that…. to be honest I wouldn’t have minded anyone of the mentors having spoke to most of them…. but I had two in my mind that I felt best ’suited’ my vision and what I was doing….. erm!! and Angie was one so thanks!!!. I’m in the Mids and she is in London… (soon to be moving further afield) so face-to-face won’t always be easy… and ‘randomly’ poping in won’t be an option..lol THANKS to technology we can still connect via phone, email.. etc…. (Nb: Dom I’m still not ‘SKyped up’ will be getting on that this weekend… soz mate)
We had our first chat about the project and after saying hello…. well I ‘kinda’ just went into this 10 min ’speed talk’ about what I’m doing? asking how should I do it.. third person, first person? should I tell a story?… Do I need characters? should I be myself?…. lets just say it may have been a ‘baptism of fire’ for Angie… SORRY Angie ……. after a moment to catch my breath…. and Angie to ’soak it all in’…….. we ended saying that we will meet face -to-face in the next couple of weeks or early Jan and that I would get my key dates etc … to her. I hope she doesn’t think I’m a bit of a ‘looney’……….. maybe I am.. ummmmm!!! one gone yazeemi
